Gloucester South fire station will be situated off Cole Avenue near to its junction with the A38, Bristol Road

The station will have six bays for vehicles, which will include two fire engines, one aerial appliance, one special rescue unit, one rescue boat and one four wheel drive vehicle. There will also be a purpose built training building that will provide a range of practical scenarios such as ladder work, breathing apparatus search and rescue, basement fire fighting and flooding to test firefighters operational skills.

Inside the station will comprise of separate locker rooms and showers for male and female staff, fitness suite, unisex toilets, modern kitchen and a spacious area where crews can eat their meals and relax. Offices will be provided for station managers, watch managers and fire safety personnel as well as storage for fire fighters personal protective equipment and other uniform items.

The station will also feature a self-contained community area including dedicated toilets, refreshment area and adjoining prayer/baby changing/feeding room.

A training room used for lectures by fire service personnel will be located next to the community room with a folding partition so that either room has flexibility to be extended if needed.
