Members of staff from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service have just appeared in a feature length episode of hospital drama 'Casualty'.
The episode, called 'Duty of Care,' aired on Saturday (7th January) on BBC One at 8.40pm.
The new Holby Emergency Department was unveiled in this special feature-length episode, however, a chemical explosion took place just around the corner. Could they cope with such a major incident? Enter our firefighters!
At the start of day one of filming, crews of the Incident Command Unit (ICU), Incident Response Unit and Station Manager Clive Webber filmed scenes on location with the production crew.
The ICU was positioned and re-badged as Wyvern Fire & Rescue Service and the team from GFRS were filmed rushing to the area to be used for decontamination.
The team then began to construct a decontamination area, under close scrutiny of the director, and their every move was filmed.
GFRS were involved in various other scenes throughout the afternoon.
A wet start today two of filming didn't dampen the team's spirits, they filmed more decontamination scenes before ending, soaked to the skin, but still enthusiastic.
Station Commander and Hazardous Materials adviser, Clive Webber, said: "It was a very busy couple of days filming, we all enjoyed the experience and it was great that Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were asked to be involved in such a high profile programme as Casualty.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Geoff Sallis, said: "It was a very busy couple of days filming, we all enjoyed the experience and it was great that Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were asked to be involved in such a high profile programme as Casualty.
It was a great opportunity for our firefighters to show off their skills and give an insight into how hard firefighters work and the pressures they can come under during a major disaster.
I tuned in on Saturday night and I think all of our firefighters did us proud - well done to all involved.
Cllr Will Windsor-Clive, Gloucestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said: "Well done to all firefighters involved in the filming of the programme."
What better way to show the fantastic work our firefighters do than on television in front of thousands of people!"
