Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service Press Release

Focus on fighting fires through the ages at Cheltenham East open day

Cheltenham East Community Fire Station

Members of the community will get a flavour of firefighting through the ages at an open day at Cheltenham East community fire station on Saturday 31st August.

To mark the 200th year of a professional fire service in Cheltenham, the Keynsham Road station will open from 12pm to 4pm and feature a photo display of the town's fire and rescue teams over the years.

Families will also be invited to learn more about the modern day service, with the county hovercraft, fire safety stands and representatives from the HART team and Road Safety Partnership on hand.

There will be a bouncy castle for children, a stand for the firefighters' charity and hot and cold refreshments available to buy. Entry is free.

Cllr Will Windsor-Clive, cabinet member for communities, said: "Fire station open days are great fun and also a brilliant opportunity to find out how to stay safe."

"It will be a great afternoon out for all the family, so if you're in the area, why not go along and find out more about the brilliant work our firefighters do."
