Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service Press Release

Open day at Cirencester fire station

Families are invited along to a free fun day at Cirencester Fire Station on Sunday 22nd September from noon to 3pm.

Local people will be able to learn more about the job done by today's fire and rescue crews with displays and firefighter demonstrations on the day.

Firefighting equipment will be on full view, with a chance to look around the county's incident response unit.

There will be community fire safety advice from specialist officers with demonstrations of chip pan fires and a smoke house for people to experience a smoke filled room in safety.

A gallery of photos from training exercises and incidents will give a flavour of the varied work the fire service carries out.

There will be a raffle, a tea and cake stall and an ice cream van to raise money for good causes.

There will also be a special appearance of sci-fi characters from the TV and movies.

Police vehicles will also be on display.

Cllr Will Windsor-Clive, cabinet member for communities, said: "I encourage local families to go along to this free event in Cirencester. There's lots going on and it's a great chance to learn more about fire safety and to have some fun at the same time."

Cirencester Fire Station is based on School Lane, Cirencester, GL7 1YL.
