Race Equality Scheme
The Race Relations (Amendment)
Act 2000 amends the Race Relations Act 1976 and places
upon public authorities a new statutory duty to promote
race equality. The aim is to help such authorities to
provide fair and accessible services, and to improve
equal opportunity in employment.
To
do this we have developed a Race Equality Scheme for
the 2005 - 2008 period. The key part of the Scheme is
the Action Plan where we demonstrate what we will do
in this period to ensure no disadvantage can arise to
any racial groups or individuals as a result of our
employment practices or in the delivery of our services
to the communities of Gloucestershire. The Scheme will
be reviewed in 2008 and an amended Scheme developed
for the next 3 year period.
