We are not accepting any more requests for applications.

Below is a summary of the timetable for our Recruitment Process:-

Recruitment Timetable - Application Form

Closing date for return of application forms - Friday 25th July 2008 5pm

If any applications are received after 5pm they will be automatically discarded.

Once applications have been returned, successful applicants will be invited back to undertake a series of selection tests to include:

Psychometric Tests – September 2008

This stage requires the candidate to complete a series of written psychometric tests.

Candidates with disabilities such as dyslexia must make themselves known to the  assessment team. This should also be noted on the application form so that arrangements can be made.  

Physical – December 2008

If successful at the written assessment candidates will be invited to attend the physical assessment.  This is designed to assess level of physical fitness and ability to become a wholetime firefighter.  The tests are timed and consist of the following:

  • A ladder climb
  • Casualty evacuation
  • Ladder lift
  • Enclosed space
  • Equipment assembly
  • Equipment carry

PQA Interview – January 2009

If successful at the phyiscal stage, candidates are invited to attend an interview.

Medical

All successful candidates will be required to undergo a full medical examination by the Service Occupational Health Department.

CRB & References

An offer of employment is conditional on satisfactory references and Criminal Records Bureau Clearance. 

12 weeks Training Course at Severn Park – April 2008

Successful canidates will commence on the Recruits Course.
