Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service are committed to making a safer Gloucestershire by:
- reducing the number of fires and their consequences
- increasing awareness of escape plans and smoke alarms
- increasing safety on the roads
By educating our children and young people in safety issues we not only make them aware of the dangers and consequences, but also allow them to make choices about their safety. At the same time we also inform parents and carers about keeping their family safe.
This resource pack is part of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service's 'Children and Young People's Strategy' promoting the safety of children and young people; this involves working with children and young people through their education system, with voluntary and community groups and working with those who require a higher level of intensive intervention.
Resource packs have been developed for schools to use up to key stage three. Each pack covering our five key safety messages of:
- Fire prevention in the home
- Detection of, and escape from fire
- Fire setting
- Calling 999
- Road Safety
It is intended that teachers deliver this programme with support from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service. All resources have been aligned with the National Curriculum, Early Learning Goals, Every Child Matters National Outcomes, Healthy Schools Programme and the SEAL concepts.
I hope you find these resources useful in helping to deliver these important safety messages to the children in your care, working together for a safer Gloucestershire.
We offer alternative programmes that run outside the school environment. Please use the tabs on the left of this page to see details of all the programmes we can offer. If there is something specific you require, that doesn't fit into these programmes please feel free to contact Dave Norman, Children and Young People Manager via our HQ on 01452 753333, to discuss your requirements. |
